- Name of activity / technique:
- Step 1b: Filling the powder dispenser - Powders containing tungsten carbide are received in sealed plastics cans and filled into a powder dispenser. This operation is done manually. The duration of activity is 5 minutes and performed about 2 to 4 times a day for 220 days / year. Dust exposure is limited due to RMMs.
- Process category (PROC):
- PROC 8b: Transfer of substance or mixture (charging and discharging) at dedicated facilities
- Name of activity / technique:
- Step b2: Coating process - The coating process is done in an isolated room with the operator located in an adjacent room where he can observe the coating process. The isolated room protects from noise, emissions and mechanical dangers. The control of the coating device is through a certified gas panel and the manipulation of the device is generally with automation such as an industrial robot. Exposure frequency 220 days / year (Same conditions for powder coatings and wires). Dust exposure is limited due to RMMs. Manual thermal spraying is only performed under strict conditions to protect the employee. Exposure frequency 220 days / year. Regular air monitoring may be done on employees and area to control RMM efficiency.
