Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a study with Pseudomonas putida according to DIN 38412-8 the 30-min EC10for CAS 1328-53-6 was determined to be > 10000 mg/L (BASF AG, 1988).

The solubility of CAS 1328-53-6 increased by a solubiliser. Although the DIN method is not the preferred method under REACH, the results can be used for the calculation of the PNEC for microorganisms when no other test results are available (ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, chapter R.7b, section R.7.8.17.1)

Based on the available experimental data, it can be concluded that inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when the substance is introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
