Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Remarks:
The partition coefficient for Iron reported in this study is based on a literature survey. Hypothesis for read across: The structure of iron ore pellets consists essentially of iron oxide grains. The bonding of the grains occur by oxide bridging, recrystallisation of hematite and to a lesser extent by the formation of fused silicate phases. Since silicates are inert and no effect on the environment is expected, the endpoints in Chapters 5 and 6 are based on the effects of iron as a worst case in these substances. More information on the justification of read across can be found in the attached document in the endpoint summaries of section 5 and 6.

log for soil
Value:
ca. 2.7
Remarks on result:
other: mean log Kd is 2.736

Any other information on results incl. tables

Mean log Kd of 2.736 is derived from AECL report1990 with log Kd of 2.519; 3.079; 2.394; 2.954 for respectively sand; silt; clay and organic soils.
