Additional information

Short-term toxicity to fish:

Key study: The 96h-LC50 for Sodium acetate was > 100 mg/L with Brachydanio rerio (new name: Danio rerio) (basis for effect: mortality). Test method was according to OECD 203.

Long-term toxicity to fish:

Data waiving: In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted since the chemical safety assessment indicates the no need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organisms.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

Calculated for Sodium acetate acute toxicity (to Daphnia magna) were as follows: EC0 (24h)=235.68mg/L and EC0 (48h)=235.68mg/L EC50 (24h)>385.30mg/L and EC50 (48h)>385.60mg/L

and to Acartia tonsa: calculated for Sodium acetate acute toxicity were as follows: NOEC (24h)=1048.25mg/L and NOEC (48h)=1048.25mg/L LC50 (24h)=3673.55mg/L and LC50 (48h)=2075.20mg/L

Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

Data waiving: In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the study does not need to be conducted since the chemical safety assessment indicates the no need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organisms.

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria:

Key study: Read-across from experimental data on the category analogue Potassium Acetate (according to ISO 10253). The EC50 for Sodium Acetate is calculated to be greater than 417.92 mg/L, and NOEC is calculated to be 417.92 mg/L.

Toxicity to microorganisms:

The 16 h- EC50 for Pseudomonas putida was 7.2 g/L (according to DIN 38412 part 8).
