Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to fish.

No acute effects occurred on the zebra fish Brachydanio rerio (OECD 203) in the range of water solubility; EC50 (96h) > 100 mg/L (nominal)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity to fish was investigated with the zebra fish Brachydanio rerio according to OECD guideline 203 [CIBA-GEIGY 1985]. The test was conducted as limit test with a nominal test substance concentration of 100 mg/L. Due to the low water solubility of the test item a solubilizer was used to prepare the stock solution. However the test substance was present at least partially as a suspension causing an inhomogeneous distribution in the water at the end of the study. The analytically determined recovery rate decreased from 97-113% at test initiation to finally 58-64%. Nevertheless, no effects on the test organisms occurred during the 96 hours test duration. Since the measured concentrations clearly exceeded the water solubility of the test substance, it can be stated that there is no toxicity in the range of the water solubility (< 0.1 mg/L). Therefore, the test substance is considered not to be acutely harmful to fish.
