Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Principles of method if other than guideline:
In deviation from guideline toluene was used as solvent as C8-18 AAPB was visually completely soluble in water. Furthermore, a ultrasonic bath instead of vaccuum was used to remove air bubbles due to the volatilty of toluene.

The relative density D (4/20) of C8 -18 AAPB was determined to be 1.15 using a Hubbard pycnometer.
Executive summary:

The relative density of C8 -18 AAPB was determined in a study conducted according to ISO 1183 -1. In deviation from guideline toluene was used as solvent as C8-18 AAPB was visually completely soluble in water. A relative density D (4/20) of 1.15 was determined using a Hubbard pycnometer.

Description of key information

relative density D (4/20) of C8 -18 AAPB: 1.15 at 20°C
relative density (D4/20) of C12 AAPB: 1.2 at 20°C

Additional information

The relative densities D (4/20) of C8 -18 AAPB and C12 AAPB were determined to be 1.15 and 1.2, respectively. All AAPBs are similar in structure, contain all the same zwitterionic structure. They differ, however, by their carbon chain length distribution and the degree of unsaturation (<=20%) in the fatty acid moiety. The content of minor constituents in all products are comparable and differ to an irrelevant amount. Based on the available data, it can be assumed that chain length distribution and degree of unsaturation of the fatty acid chain have no or at the most a minor impact on this endpoint.
