First-aid measures

If swallowed: Rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth (oral) to an unconscious person. Administer activated charcoal as a slurry (30 g charcoal/240 mL water). Usul dose: 25 to 100 g in adults, 25 to 50 g in children (1-12 years), and 1 g/kg in infants less than 1 year old. Call a poison center or doctor/physician if you feel unwell.

If in eyes: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.

If on skin: Take off contaminated clothing. Wash with plenty of soap and water. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention. Call a poison center or doctor/physician if you feel unwell. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

If inhaled: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Call a poison center or doctor/physician if you feel unwell.

Fire-fighting measures

The substance is not combustible, however, the following fire-fighting measures are recommended:

- Suitable extinguishing media: Any mean suitable for extinguishing sorrounding fire.

- Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons: None for iodine, but selection of extinguishing media must consider other chemicals nearby.

- Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself: Sorrounding fire may generate iodine vapours.

- Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions: Ventilate the area. Use protective gloves, clothing, eye and face protection.

- Environmental precautions: Do not let the substance enter the environment.

- Methods for cleaning up: Pick up product mechanically and store in suitable containers for recovery or disposal. If appropriate, moisten first to prvent dusting. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to a safe place.

Special procedures: None.

Safe handling procedure: Minimize vapour generation. Do not breathe vapours or duct. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Special advices: Avoid contact of the substance with finely divided metals, ammonia, ammonia solutions.

Storage

Special requirements: Reseal carefully any opened container and set upright to avoid leakages. Keep the product in the original containers.

Storage conditions: Keep containers tightly closed in well ventilated and cool place. Avoid storing near sources of heat or direct sunlight. Store locked up.
