Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
n/iso-C13-C15-Aldehyde
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
n/iso-C13-C15-Aldehyde
Reference substance:
n/iso-C13-C15-Aldehyde
Reference substance:
n/iso-C13-C15-Aldehyde
Reference substance:
n/iso-C13-C15-Aldehyde
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Based on the results of a ready biodegradability test according to OECD 310, the submission substance is readily biodegradable fulfilling the 10-day window requirement.

Persistence in the environment can therefore safely be excluded. ==> Not P

For the different constituents (reaction mass) of the submission substance, a log Kow range of 6.1 to 7.1 was obtained (mean Kow = 6.6). This value is clearly above the cut-off for log Kow of 4.5. Therefore, n/i-C13 -C15 –aldehydes must be regarded as bioaccumulative (B) at the screening level. The screening assessment based on log Kow does not allow for a differentiation between B and vB. However, as the substance is readily biodegradable and there are no indications which would support a vB conclusion, B is assumed.

==> B

Based on available screening (short term data on fish, aquatic invertebarates and aquatic algae) as well as assessment data (aquatic algae; classification with regard to human toxicity), n/i-C13 -C15 –aldehydes do celary not fulfill the T-criterion according to REACH Annex XIII.

==> not T

Overall conclusion:

n/i-C13 -C15 –aldehydes do neither fulfil PBT nor vPvB criteria.
