Conclusion on classification

Succinic acid is of low ecotoxicity. The LC50/EC50s are above 100 mg/L for the acute exposures. Succinic acid is ready biodegradable, has no bioaccumulation potential and a low logPow of -0.59. Altogether there are no indications for a classification of succinic acid, based on ecotoxicity and/or fate and behaviour in the environment.

Succinic acid is not a PBT or vPvB-substance because of the low bioconcentration potential, the low partition coefficient n-octanol/water and the low ecotoxicity.
