Description of key information

After evaporation or exposure to air, 1,3,5-trioxane will be slowly degraded by photochemical processes.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The rate constant for the reaction of 1,3,5-trioxane with hydroxyl radicals in the atmosphere was estimated by the SRC AOPWIN v1.92 program as 10.25E-12 cm³/molecule*s. From this rate constant half-life for the reaction of OH radicals with trioxane is calculated as 37.5h assuming a 24h-day.
