Description of key information

Partially unsaturated TEA-Esterquat is readily biodegradable. Therefore simulation testing in water and sediment is not required. However the substance was investigated in an Aerobic Sewage Treatment Simulation Test. The substance proved to be biodegradable by 84.9 % DOC removal average during 23 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in freshwater:
1.1 d
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The degradation of TEA-Esterquat partially unsaturated was investigated in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 303 A (Simulation Test - Aerobic Sewage Treatment. A: Activated Sludge Units). In laboratory waste water treatment plant, the test substance was biodegraded by 84.9% DOC removal on average during 23 d.
