Individual Results

Thermal Stability (DSC):

A DSC-measurement in a closed glass crucible showed a multistep endothermic effect in the temperature range of 190 – 330 °C. No further effects were observed up to the maximum temperature (350 °C).

Melting Point / Melting Range (DSC)

Due to a possible reaction of the test item (test item contains sulphuric acid) with aluminium crucibles the measurements were performed in open glass crucibles. The measurements in open glass crucibles showed an endothermic effect in the temperature range 60 to 380 °C:

An optical inspection of the test item after the measurement showed that the test item was caked but not molten. An additional measurement with the capillary method was performed in order to clarify the results of the DSC measurements:

Remarks

200 °C: discolouration at the surface of the test item to greyish

400 °C: discolouration of the test item to yellowish

After cooling the colour of the test item returns to white and the test item is caked

Thus it was concluded, that the test item does not melt within the tested temperature range of 25 – 500 °C.

Boiling Point / Boiling Range (DSC):

As no melting was observed, no boiling point could be quoted.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test item shows no melting or boiling in the temperature range of 25 – 500 °C.
Executive summary:

The melting point of test item itanium(IV)oxysulfate – sulphuric acid hydrate (molecular formula TiOSO4 x H2SO4 x H2O; CAS No. 123334-00-9) was determined following the protocol as given by OECD Guideline 102. As result of the measurement the melting point is > 500 °C. Substance was caked and showed discoloration, but was not molten.
