non flammable

Additional information

The key study for determination of the flammability of magnesium carbonate is a GLP study performed in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, using Method N.1 of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, 4th revised edition, 2003 (Harlan Laboratories Ltd, 2010). Magnesium carbonate failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test. This demonstrated that magnesium carbonate is not flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Magnesium carbonate is not classified as a readily combustible solid under Division 4.1 as it failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test.
