Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Waving as methyl acetate is readily biodegradable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Methyl acetate is not supposed to be directly applied to soil. Further, the test substance is readily biodegradable and it does not have the potential to bioaccumulate nor is it considered as a PBT/vPvB substance. Hence, in case of indirect exposure of soil, methyl acetate is expected to rapidly degrade. Therefore soil is not expected to be a compartment of concern. The risk to soil microorganisms is negligible.

Methyl acetate showed low ecotoxicity to other test organisms.
