Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2010-04-01 to 2010-04-08
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to same study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Version / remarks:
2008
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
signed 2009-11-26
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Preliminary screening test: The pile failed to ignite during the two minutes that the Bunsen flame was applied. The result of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the main test.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test material has been determined to be not highly flammable as it failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test.
Executive summary:

The procedure for the preliminary screening test specified in Method A.10 Flammability (Solids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 is the same as the procedure for the preliminary screening test specified in Test N.1 (test method for readily combustible solids) of the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods manual of tests and criteria, fourth revised edition 2003. Test N.1 states that, if the substance does not ignite within the 2 minutes test period, then the substance should not be classified as a flammable solid and thus is not a readily combustible solid of Division 4.1.
