Description of key information

Yokohama Laboratories (Misubishi 2002) have provided a fully detailed high quality report.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10, LC10 or NOEC for freshwater invertebrates:
0.005

Additional information

This study was carried out according to GLP (certificate included) and in which all described parameters are closely comparable to the standard OECD Guideline 211 method. The 21d NOEC value of 0.00525 mg/l indicates that MDA is toxic to invertebrates. The results confirm that for 4,4'-MDA invertebrates are the most sensitive species of the three trophic levels of the base set (fish, daphnia and algae). Therefore, this NOEC value may be used to derive a PNECaqua value.

A test with Moina macrocopa revealed a 14 d NOEC of 0.15 ppm (Fujiwara 1982)
