Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Results and discussion

Test results (Oxidising solids)
Sample tested:
reference mixture (not specified)
Remarks:
migrated information
Parameter:
maximum burning rate
Result:
79 s

Any other information on results incl. tables

Preliminary Results:

The test substance/cellulose mixture burned briefly (10 seconds) on application of the test flame, but only the tip of the cone had burned when the flame extinguished. In comparison, the barium nitrate reference burned vigorously to completion in 50 seconds. As ATBS was not clearly oxidising, a definitive test was performed

Definitive Results:

The burn time (200 mm) for a reference mixture of 3 parts barium nitrate to 2 parts of cellulose was 79 seconds.

The following burn times (200 mm) were obtained for 10 to 90% mixtures of A TBS with cellulose.

 composition (% test substance)  10  20  30  40  50  60  70  80  90
Burn times(seconds)  DNB   DNB  DNB    DNB   DNB   DNB   DNB   DNB   DNB

where DNB = did not burn
