Additional information

The key study performed according to OECD test guideline 203 and under consideration of GLP did not reveal toxic effects after 96h up to a concentration of 10000 mg/L. The LC50 was determined to be 10000 mg/L and the NOEC > 10000 mg/L.

Furthermore, several studies on melamine and cyanuric acid themselves are availalbe.

For the component CAS 108 -78 -1 (melamine):

Five studies, with different reliabilities and with 4 different species of fish are available (Goodrich 1984, Vaessen 1982, Pagga 1979, Nite 2010, Jansen 1978). The report of each of the 5 studies point to the same result: the acute toxicity of melamine to fish is low. The LC50s are in the range of >500 to >4600 mg/L.

 

For the component CAS 108 -80 -5 (Cyanuric acid):

The LC50 has been determined to be 8000 mg /L nominal (Anderson 2002).
