Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- Endpoint:
- water solubility
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 2006-2007
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: see 'Remark'
- Remarks:
- Systematic critical review of all available published data (13 data sets) on the solubility of cyclohexanol in water. Full details of the review procedures and criteria were given. Full bibliographic references for each data source were provided, including experimental conditions, methods, apparatus, source and purity, and estimated errors. The data were fitted to an equation based on thermodynamic and equilibrium properties of liquid-liquid binary-phase systems, hence reducing the uncertainty below that of a single experimental result.
- Guideline:
- other: no guideline followed
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Systematic critical review of all available published data on the solubility of C6 Alcohols in water. Format for compilation and critical evaluation followed the standardised IUPAC-NIST Solubility Data Series. Recommended and "reference values" given. Details on the calculations used to derive the "reference values" were published previously (M. Goral, et al , J. Phys. Chern. Ref. Data 35, 1391 (2006), A. Maczynski, at al, J. Phys. Chern. Ref. Data 36, 59 (2007), A. Maczynski at al, J. Phys. Chem.Ref. Data 36, 133 (2007)).
- GLP compliance:
- no
- Type of method:
- other: critical review
- Water solubility:
- 37.6 g/L
- Temp.:
- 298.2 K
- pH:
- 7
- Remarks on result:
- other: Mole fraction x=0.00701
- Details on results:
- pH=7 assumed by the registrant. Reference-value solubility reported as Cyclohexanol mole fraction (x1=0.00701) and converted by registrant to g/L at 298.2 K with the saturated aqueous solution density of 0.99613 at 298.15K reported by Bermudez-Salguero et al.
- Conclusions:
- Interpretation of results (migrated information): very soluble (>10000 mg/L). The calculated solubility-temperature curve is fitted to all the available experimental data and is thus expected to yield a more reliable result than any single experiment, or simple average of solubilities, at a given temperature. For this reason the calculated "reference value" was selected for the purposes of risk assessment.

Additional information
The solubility of Cyclohexanol was investigated and published in the IUPAC-NIST Solubility Data Series 82 (2007) that reviewed systematically and critically all available published data on the solubility of C6 alcohols in water.
The data is considered to be relevant, reliable with restrictions (Klimisch 2) and adequate for risk assessment purposes as the calculated solubility-temperature curve is fitted to all the available experimental data and is thus expected to yield a more reliable result than any single experiment, or simple average of solubility values, at a given temperature.
The calculated "reference value" was therefore selected for the purposes of risk assessment.
