Additional information

An early research study designed to investigate possible actions of structurally related polydimethylsiloxanes on the reticuloendothelial system was conducted on mice in vivo. In in vivo preliminary studies structurally related polydimethylsiloxanes showed no effect on the serum interferon titre at 2 hr post induction in mice (Dow Corning Corporation, 1975). The study reports for these studies are not available and therefore the reliability cannot be verified.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available limited data, HMDS does not meet the criteria for classification for immunotoxic effects according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008.
