There is no study available on hydrolysis as a function of pH with the substance Fatty acids, C16-18, 2-ethylhexyl esters. In accordance with column 2 of EC 1907/2006 Annex VIII the testing is not required if the substance is readily biodegradable. All category members of SCAE C2 -C8 are readily biodegradable.

In addition, based on QSAR (HYDROWIN v2.00) and a read across study from Fatty acids, C16 -C18 and C18 -unsatd., branched and linear, Bu esters (CAS: 163961 -32 -8), it is established that hydrolysis represents a negligible pathway for the environmental fate for the Fatty acid esters in the category (DT50 > 1 yr).
