Additional information

As key study a test performed within an OECD validation test course with several participating laboratories was identified. It was conducted according to OECD guideline 301C using municipal activated sludge without preconditioning. After 28 days a DOC removal of 98% and a biological oxygen demand of 95% (BOD/ThOD) was measured. This result is supported by a literature study from Weytjens et al. (1994) which showed a DOC removal > 90% after 7 days in a test according to OECD 301A also using municipal activated sludge.
