Bioaccumulation

alpha-Pinene is one of the main constituent of GUM TURPENTINE OIL.

BCF has been estimated by the geometric mean of three QSAR data on (-)-alpha-pinene.

- BCFBAF v3.01 module of EPI Suite (v4.0) - Regression-based estimate

- BCF-BAF v3.01 module of EPI Suite (v4.0) (including biotransformation) - Arnot-Gobas lower trophic level

- A model described in Technical Guidance Risk Assessment (European Chemicals Bureau, 2003) - Part II, Chapter 3.8, equation (74) p. 126

Geometric mean value for BCF is 855.7 L/kg.

Toxicity

- None of the acute aquatic toxicity values of gum turpentine oil exceed the criteria for toxicity stipulated in the ECHA’s Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment - Part C: PBT Assessment.

- Not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction according to Directive 67/548/EEC or Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

- No evidence of chronic toxicity as identified by the classifications T, R48 or Xn, R48 according to Directive 67/548/EEC or specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure (STOT RE category 1 or 2) according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
