Description of key information

Short-toxicity aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna): 48-hr EC50 = 45 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water invertebrates

Fresh water invertebrates
Effect concentration:
45 mg/L

Additional information

In an OECD 202 guideline study, the 48 -hr EC50 for n-Vinylpyrrolidone (nVP) for aquatic freshwater invertebrates (Daphnia magna) was determined to be 45 mg/L and the EC0 was determined to be 3.6 mg/L (BASF, 1990). Given these results, nVP can be said to be moderately toxic to Daphnia magna.
