Additional information

Two studies are available in order to assess the acute toxicity to terrestrial macroorganisms on two similar substances of the category of Stilbene Fluorescent Whitening Agents. The two substance are CAS 4193-55-9 and CAS 16470-24-9: the analogous disulphonated and tetrasulphonated sodium salt, respectively. Specific justification for Read Across are described within the endpoint and within the Justification Category Report attached to Section 13 of the dossier.

The LC50 value in Eisenia foetida according to the OECD 207 was greater than 5000 mg/kg dry weight (Solvias AG. 1999) in CAS 4193-55-9 and greater than 3000 mg/kg dry weight (Solvias AG. 1999) in CAS 16470-24-9. From the toxicity point of view, no difference can be established between the two substances since the tests have been conducted at fixed doses with no effects reported.
