Description of key information

Propylidynetrimethanol, propoxylated showed 2.7% respiration inhibition of activated sludge at a test item concentration of 10000 mg/l, hence the EC 50 > 10000 mg/l (ISOPA, 2002).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Propylidynetrimethanol, propoxylated showed 2.7% respiration inhibition of activated sludge at a test item concentration of 10000 mg/l, hence the EC10 >= 10000 mg/L, EC 50 > 10000 mg/l (ISOPA, 2002).

All NLP substances have full acute ecotoxicity datasets and do not exhibit acute toxicity below 100 mg/L. It can be seen that the NLPs are similar structurally, but may be broken up into three different functional categories - ones containing aromatics, and both those that have been ethoxy/propoxylated at either alcohol or amine groups. It appears a fair assumption to say that toxicity is expected to be similar between substances within each of these categories. Therefore a read across approach is proposed to determine toxicity to microorganisms.
