The test item decomposed under incandescence and release of sparks. No flame was observed. The endpoint of the main reaction was detected as end of the spark release and end of the incandescence at the surface at 60 s to 70 s. Opening of the coil indicates a glowing combustion for additional 120 s to 140 s.

Burning times of test item/cellulose 1:1

The test item decomposed as burning with flame. After 150 to 170 seconds the last small flames extinguished, opening of the coil indicates a glowing combustion for additional 200 s.

Due to the fact that the mean burning time of the mixture of the test item with cellulose in the ratio of 4:1 (62 s) is lower than the mean burning time of the 2:3 (63 s) and 3:7 (122 s) mixture but higher than the mean burning time of the 3:2(19 s) mixture, by mass, of potassium bromate and cellulose the test item has to be classified in Category 2 (H272: May intensify fire; oxidizer; Signal word: Danger) according to the regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
