Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Available information, used in a weight-of-evidence approach, indicates a boiling point of 61°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
61.23 °C

Additional information

The experimentally determined boiling point of chloroform was 61.23 °C as measured in equilibrium still (Moelwyn-Hughes and Missen 1957). This value corresponds to the values for the boiling point given in different handbooks on physicochemical properties of organic chemicals (61-62°C in The Merck Index 1976, 62°C in Verschueren 2009). The available data thus give evidence that the boiling point of chloroform at environmental pressure is approximately 61 °C.
