PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

A simulation study in surface water was conducted at 12 °C showing no relevant biodegradation of Benzoguanamine in the time period of 60 days. Therefore no kinetic parameters could be calculated and the default value of an unlimited half-life in fresh water is assumed. Based on this default value Benzoguanamine is considered to fulfill the "very persistent" criteria in Annex XIII of REACH Regulation. Since the screening for bioaccumulation potential gives no indication and the substance does not fulfil any criteria for being toxic in the means of Annex XIII Benzoguanamine is not considered as PBT substance.

Likely routes of exposure:

Based on the identified uses of Benzoguanamine a direct emission to the environment is very unlikely. However, in case of an emission event the water compartment would be the most likely route of exposure based on the intrinsic properties of the substance.
