Additional information

Both experimental and calculated values for the rate constant for the reaction with hydroxyl radical are available for photodegradation. These are very consistent and lead to the conclusion that the dissipation half life for the parent compound is somewhere in the range 0.6 to 0.9 days, i.e phototransformation in the atmosphere is quite rapid. The molecular structure of methoxyethanol indicates that it is likely to be resistant to hydrolysis under environmental conditions, although this is not relevant as the molecule is readily biodegradable. There is no data available on phototransformation in water or soil.
