Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: The study was conducted according to generally valid procedures and according to GLP guidelines. All parameters described are closely related or comparable to guideline methods.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 305 C (Bioaccumulation: Test for the Degree of Bioconcentration in Fish)
GLP compliance:
yes
Test organisms (species):
Cyprinus carpio
Details on test organisms:
The average lipid content of the test fish was 4.9%, the average weight of the fish was 23.2 g, and the average length of the fish was 9.7 cm.
Route of exposure:
aqueous
Test type:
not specified
Water / sediment media type:
natural water: freshwater
Total exposure / uptake duration:
ca. 42 d
Test temperature:
25 °C
Nominal and measured concentrations:
The nominal concentration of MEKO used in this study was 2 mg/L. Gas chromatography measurements at 2, 3, 4 and 6 weeks measured concentrations of 1.96, 1.96, 1.97 and 1.96 ppm (w/v) MEKO, respectively.

BCF at equilibrium:

                 2 weeks: (0.5) (0.5)

                 3 weeks: (0.5) (0.5)

                 4 weeks: (0.6) (0.6)

                 6 weeks: (0.5) (0.5)

Conclusions:
The BCF for methyl ethyl ketoxime (MEKO) was 0.5 - 0.6 in this study using freshwater fish Cyprinus carpio that were exposed to MEKO at a nominal concentration of 2 mg/L for 42 days.

Description of key information

The BCF for MEKO was 0.5 to 0.6 in the study with Cyprinus carpio exposed for 42 days to 2 mg/L MEKO and <2.5 to 5.8 exposed to 0.2 mg/L MEKO, indicating low bioaccumulation potential.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
5.8 dimensionless

Additional information

A MITI bioaccumulation assay with freshwater fish, Cyprinus carpio (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan, 1982) conducted according to OECD guideline 305 C was available. BCF values of 0.5-0.6 were found when the fish were exposed to a concentration of 2 mg/L and BCF values ranging from <2.5 to 5.8 were found when exposed to a concentration of 0.2 mg/L, indicating no bioaccumulation potential.
