First-aid measures

General Advice:

• Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

• Call a physician immediately

If inhaled:

• Move to fresh air.

• If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration.

In case of skin contact:

• Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes.

• Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

• Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

In case of eye contact:

• Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

• Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.

• If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/ attention.

If swallowed:

• Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water.

• Do NOT induce vomiting.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Lachrymation

Indication of immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:

• Treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable Extinguishing Media:

• Alcohol-resistant foam

• carbon dioxide (CO2)

• dry chemical

• water spray

Unsuitable extinguishing media:

• water Spray jet

Specific Hazards arising from the substance or chemical:

Specific hazards during fire fighting:

• Take precautionary measures against static discharges

Hazardous combustion products

• Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

• Carbon dioxide (CO2)

• Carbon monoxide (CO)

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters

• Wear an approved positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus in addition to standard fire fighting gear.

Further information

• Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

• Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

• Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.

• Remove all sources of ignition.

• Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained.

Environmental precautions:

• Prevent product from entering drains.

• Prevent further leakage or spillage.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

• Contain spillage, soak up with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and transfer to a container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section 13).

• After cleaning, flush away traces with water.

• Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Advice on safe handling

• Avoid inhalation of vapour or mist.

• Do not get on skin or clothing.

• Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

• Do not swallow.

• Ensure adequate ventilation.

• Wash thoroughly after handling.

• Keep away from fire (No Smoking).

• Keep away from fire, sparks and heated surfaces.

• Do not use sparking tools.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

• Use only in area provided with appropriate exhaust ventilation.

Hygiene measures

• Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements for storage areas and containers

• Keep container closed when not in use. Store locked up.

Specific end use(s)

• Chemical intermediate

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters:

Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

Derived No Effect Level (DNEL) according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006:

End Use - Routes of exposure - Potential health effects - Value

Workers - Inhalation - Long-term systemic effects - 13.23 mg/m3

Workers - Dermal - Long-term systemic effects - 1.876 mg/kg bw/day

General Population - Inhalation - Long-term systemic effects - 1.985 mg/m3

General Population - Dermal - Long-term systemic effects - 0.67 mg/kg bw/day

General Population - Oral - Long-term systemic effects - 0.67 mg/kg bw/day

Predicted No Effect Concentration (PNEC) according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006:

Environmental Compartment - Value

Fresh water - 0.5 mg/L

Fresh water sediment - 2.17 mg/kg dw

Marine water - 0.05 mg/L

Marine water sediment - 0.217 mg/kg dw

Soil - 0.14 mg/kg dw

Sewage treatment plant - 10 mg/L

Exposure controls

Engineering measures:

• Ventilation rates should be matched to conditions.

• Enhanced general ventilation (typically 5 - 10 air changes per hour) should be used if no Local Exhaust Ventilation is in place and there is potential for exposure.

• If applicable, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to maintain airborne levels below recommended exposure limits.

• If exposure limits have not been established, maintain airborne levels to an acceptable level.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Eye protection:

• Safety glasses with side-shields

• Goggles

• Face-shield

Hand protection remarks:

• Rubber gloves Neoprene gloves

• The data about break through time/strength of material are standard values! The exact break through time/strength of material has to be obtained from the producer of the protective glove.

Skin and body protection:

• Complete suit protecting against chemicals

Respiratory protection:

• Use respiratory protection unless adequate local exhaust ventilation is provided or exposure assessment demonstrates that exposures are within recommended exposure guidelines.

Protective measures:

• Remove respiratory and skin/eye protection only after vapors have been cleared from the area.

• Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place.

• Use personal protective equipment as required.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity - Chemical Stability:

• Stable under normal conditions

• Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions

Conditions to Avoid:

• Heat, flames and sparks

Incompatible materials to avoid:

• Bases

• Strong acids and oxidizing agents

Hazardous Decomposition Products:

• Carbon dioxide (CO2)

• Carbon monoxide

• Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:

Product

• In accordance with local and national regulations.

• Waste must be classified and labelled prior to recycling or disposal.

Contaminated Packaging:

• Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste han-dling site for recycling or disposal.
