Conclusion on classification

Furfural is included in Annex I of Directive 67/548 and in Annex VI of Regulation 1272/2008, with a harmonized classification and labelling (not classified for its environmental hazard).

The 2nd ATP of CLP requires that furfural be classified Aquatic Chronic 3 (H412) since, although readily biodegradable, the chronic NOEC is <1 mg/L. No M-factor relevant since readily biodegradable.
