Description of key information

Alkenes C24 - 28 have not been shown to be readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Alkenes with a carbon number range of C24 - 30 were tested in an OECD 301B test (Mead, 2000). After 28 days 51% biodegradation was observed, and therefore, were not found to be readily biodegradable.

Alpha olefins with a carbon range of C26 - C28 were tested in an OECD 301F test (Commander and Good 2010). After 28 days 48% biodegradation was observed based on ThOD and therefore the test substance was found not to be readily biodegradable.
