Description of key information
All substances of the MDI category except the monomeric MDI substances are liquid at room temperature. The kinematic viscosities are broadly consistent due to the presence of a relatively high concentration of mMDI. All the other substances of the MDI category are liquid at room temperature. The kinematic viscosities are broadly consistent due to the presence of a relatively high concentration of mMDI. A study was performed at Chilworth (2009) however this study should be disregarded. A new study to determine the viscosity of the substance was performed at Dekra (2019). The test is conducted in accordance with ISO 3104:1994 and OECD Test Guideline 114 and gave the following results:
At 20°C (mean of 2 runs) 1354 mm2.s-1; at 40°C (mean of 2 runs) 222.1 mm2.s-1
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Viscosity:
- 1 354 mm²/s (static)
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
