Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Partition coefficient was experimentally determined to be between 2.79 and 2.93 for the two qualities of the test substance. Tests confirm that the test substance is not to be regarded has having potential to bioaccumulate in the environment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
2.93
at the temperature of:
22 °C

Additional information

Two recommended methods by OECD guidelines were used to determine the Partition Coefficient of the test substance: HPLC method (OECD 117) and Shake flask method (OECD 107).

Both methods provided very similar values for two different qualities of the substance :

log Pow 2.93 at 22°C for high cis quality (cis/trans: 85/15) (shake flask)

log Pow 2.79 and log Pow 2.81 at 30°C for high trans quality (cis/trans: 10/90) (HPLC both)

and indicate that the test substance has low potential to bioaccumulate in the environment as log Pow < 4 (according to CLP criteria). We have chosen the worst case value between the ones measured as the key value for chemical safety assessment.

The measurements do not give indication of the isomer responsible of the result. Besides, the change in the ratio cis/trans does not involve any difference in the partition coefficient as the values for the two qualities are very similar.
