Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Section 9.5.1. toxicity testing on sediment organisms does not need to be conducted as the chemical safety assessment has not indicated a need to investigate this endpoint further. The substance can be predicted to have a high potential to adsorb to sediment. However, the concentration of manganese in sediment from these uses is expected to be much less than the background concentration of manganese in European sediments (452 mg Mn/kg in sediment according to “Probabilistic Distribution of Manganese in European Surface Water, Sediment and Soil and Derivation of Predicted Environmental Concentrations (PEC)”, Parametrix, 2009 and supported by GEMAS data). Additional testing is therefore considered unnecessary.
