Additional information

The results of the study on skin irriation show slight irritation (mean PDII of 1 at 24 hrs and a mean PDII of 0.4 at 48 hrs) after 10 repeated 24 hr applications to the skin (Bioresearch 1980).

In the eye irritation study, mean conjunctivae results were 6.0 after 24 hours, 3.7 after 48 hours, 1.3 after 72 hours and 0.0 after 5 and 7 days. Reactions were observed in 6 of 6 animals at 24 hours, 6 of 6 animal at 48 hrs, and 3 of 6 animals at 72 hours. This study indicates that while TPP can cause irritation to the eye, the effects diminish greatly after 24 -48 hours and fully reversible within 5 days for all animals. and no irritation in the eye (Bioresearch 1980).

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: slightly irritating

Effects on eye irritation: irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

TPP is classified as a skin and eye irritation under the existing EU (ATP) regulations.
