Description of key information

No acute aquatic toxicity to daphnia: EL50(48 h) >10,000 mg/L (effective loading).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The aqueous extract (water-accommodated fraction) of a loading of up to 10,000 mg calcium silicate/L was not acutely toxic to daphnia. It is assumed that the freshwater results are also applicable to marine life, i.e. no acute aquatic toxicity expected from exposure to synthetic amorphous calcium silicates (CS).
