Description of key information

Based on the results obtained from a weight of evidence approach disodium persulfate was regarded oxidising.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
oxidising

Additional information

Disodium persulfate was not tested for oxidising properties. A weight of evidence approach based on literature data and one secondary source was applied. The overall conclusion (oxidising solid) is thus regarded as reliable. Disodium persulfate was considered as oxidising solid in Cat. 3.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results obtained from a weight of evidence approach as well as on experience in handling and use, disodium persulfate was classified with respect to oxidising properties. Taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2020/1182, disodium persulfate should be classified as oxidising solid Cat. 3 (may intensify fire; oxidizer), similar to the other category members.
