PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Acetophenone proved to be readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. The bioaccumulation potential was demonstrated to be low based on an estimated BCF of 0.5. This is supported by a log Kow of 1.65 at 20°C. Based on the available results on short-term toxicity to aquatic organisms, the lowest L(E)C50 was determined to be >1 mg/L. Furthermore, the substance is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction or toxic after repeated exposure (STO RE or R48) according to Directive 67/548/EEC or CLP Regulation.

These data indicate that acetophenone is neither fulfilling the criteria forpersistent, bioaccumulative and toxic substances (PBT-substances), nor the criteria for very persistent and very bioaccumulative substances (vPvB-substances)according to the criteria of Annex XIII of REACH regulation or the screening criteria.
