Results and discussion

Pyrophoric solids
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
corresponding to 'no' in migrated source record.

Any other information on results incl. tables

The flame was held on the test material for 2 minutes in which time the test substance melted. The melt then burned with a weak yellow flame which propagated along the pile for 10mm before dying out.

The result of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the main test as it did not ignite and burn for the full 200 mm.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
The test material has been determined to be not highly flammable as it failed to ignite in the
preliminary screening test.
Executive summary:

The objective of this study is to determine the flash point and/or flammability (solids) of the test material in accordance with Council directive 67/548/EEC, Annex V, Part A: Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, as published in Commission Directive 92/69/EEC

The flammability (solids) of BMS 394154-01 was determined by measuring the burning rate of test material prepared as a pile of set dimensions. Testing was conducted using Method A10 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (which constitutes Annex V of Council Directive 67/548/EEC).

The test material ignited with a yellow flame which self-extinguished after 8 seconds without propagating combustion in the preliminary screening.

The result of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the main test.

The test material has been determined to be not highly flammable.
