First-aid measures

General advice
Consult a physician. Show this SDS to the doctor in attendance.

If inhaled: move person to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration. Consult a physician.

In case of skin contact: wash off with soap and plenty of water. Consult a physician.

In case of eye contact: rinse thoroughly with plenty of taer for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician.

If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with water, Consult a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:
Water (mist or spray), Extinguishing powder, Foam, Carbon dioxide: Fight large fire with foam or water spray.

Further information :
Cool surrounding containers with water spray. If possible, take container out of dangerous zone. Heating causes a rise in pressure, risk of bursting and explosion. Shut off sources of ignition. Beware of backfire. Stay on upwind side. Use only explosion proved equipment.

Special protective equipment for firefighters :
Attention! Hazardous decomposition products may occur: Hydrogen bromide
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal Precautions:
Use personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing vapours, mist or gas. Ensure adequate ventilation. Remove all sources of ignition. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Beware of vapours accumulating to form explosive concentrations. Vapours can accumulate in low areas.

Environmental precautions
Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not let product enter drains.

Methods for cleaning up:
Contain spillage and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local/national regulations.

Handling and storage

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18 for transported isolated intermediates. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each use site as the substance is imported from a non European Union source.

Handling
Workplace : Provision of very good ventilation in the working area. Vapour/air mixtures are heavier than air. Adequate ventilation at the floor area must be ensured as well. The expelled air must not be returned to the working areas. The floor must be solvent resistant. Washing facility at the workplace required. Eye bath required. These locations must be signposted clearly. When handling excessive amounts of the substance an emergency shower is required. Do not leave container open. Use leak-proof equipment with exhaust for refilling or transfer. Do not transport with/using compressed air. Avoid splashing. Fill only into labelled container. Use solvent resistant utensils. Avoid any contact when handling the substance. Use an appropriate exterior vessel when transporting in fragile containers.

Storage :
Store on a cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Exposure controls / personal protection

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18 for transported isolated intermediates. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each use site as the substance is imported from a non European Union source.

Respiratory protection
Where risk assessments show that air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a full-face respirator with multi-purpose combintation (US) or type AXBEK (EN 14387) respirator cartridges as back up to engineering controls. If the respirator is sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate governmnet standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Hand protection
The selected protective gloves must satisf the specifications of the EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Handle with gloves..

Eye Protection
Faceshield and safety glasses.

Skin and body protection
Choose a body protection according to the amount and concentration of dangerous substance at the work place.

Hygiene measures
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.

Stability and reactivity

Storage stability
Stable under recommended storage conditions.

Conditions to avoid
Heat, flames and sparks

Materials to avoid
Strong oxidising agents, strong bases.

Hazardous decomposition products
Hazardous decomposition products form under fire conditions - carbon oxides, hydrogen bromide gas

Disposal considerations

Product
Brun in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber but exert extra care in igniting as this material is flammable. Observe all national and local regulations. Contact a licensed professional waste disposal service to dispose of this material.

Contaminated packaging
Dispose of as unused product.
