Administrative data

Description of key information

In the key acute oral toxicity study (CIT, 1993), which was conducted according to appropriate OECD 401 and to GLP, the LD50 was > 2,000 mg/kg bw in the rat.
In the key acute inhalation toxicity study (JBRC, 199), which was conducted using protocols comparable with OECD 403 and EU Method B.2 and to GLP, the LC50 was > 9,923 ppm but < 29,440 ppm during a 6-hour exposure to vapor for the rat.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For acute oral and inhalation toxicity, the most recent reliable study was selected as the key study.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data do not suggest that 2-bromopropane should be classified for lethality following single exposures.
