Description of key information

The Koc value was calculated using EPIWIN 4.0. The resulting value of 0.008 L/kg indicates that B-TEGME would not adsorb to soils,or sediments should these environmental compartments be exposed to it.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
0.008

Additional information

The QSAR tool EPIWIN 4.0 was applied to calculate a Koc value, based on its Log Kow of -4.37 (EPINWIN 4.0). The resulting Koc estimate of 0.008 L/kg indicates that B-TEGME would not adsorb to soils or sediments.

It should be mentioned that, in accordance with EC 1907/2006, Annex VIII, point 9.3.1, column 2, assessment of the adsorption/desorption behavior of B-TEGME is not required due to its ready biodegradability and its low octanol-water partition coefficient, indicating that it has a low potential to adsorb to soils/sediments. Hence environmental exposure assessment is not being done.
