Description of key information

Melting point/freezing point (ATMP acid): undergoes melting with decomposition from about 178°C (451 K) (Tremain 2010). This conclusion may be read across to the salt.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acid form of ATMP has been demonstrated to undergo thermal decomposition from about 178ºC (451 K) using a differential scanning calorimetry method in accordance with EU Method A.1. The result is considered to be reliable and has therefore been assigned as key study. The sodium salt of ATMP would be expected to melt at a higher temperature than the acid and to also decompose.
