Description of key information

The Henry'law constant was estimated to be 11.4 Pa.m3/mol at 25°C (5.45 Pa.m3/mol at 12°C).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Henry's law constant (H) (in Pa m³/mol):
11.4
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The Henry's law constant is calculated using the equation from EUSES. Using a molecular weight of 258.4 g/mole, and the experimentally determined vapour pressure of 0.0727 Pa (at 25 °C) and water solubility of 1.65 mg/L (at 25 °C), the Henry's Law constant at 25°C and at environmental temperature (12°C) is calculated to be 11.4 and 5.45 Pa·m³/mol, respectively. The substance is expected to volatilise from water to air to a significant extent under environmental conditions.

In a thesis by Artola-Garicano (2002), the Henry's Law Constant was determined using an adaptation of techniques described by Peng and Wan (1997) and Dewulf et al. (1999) Samples were taken from bottles with water and air left to equilibrate during 24 hours at 25 °C and analysed with GC/FID. Henry's Law Constant was calculated to be 36.9 ( ± 0.8) Pa. m3/mol.

As the water solubility and vapour pressure values used in EUSES are derived from OECD guideline studies following GLP, while the calculation by Artola-Garicano is based on values derived from a non-GLP, non-guideline study, the Henry's Law Constant described by EUSES is regarded as key for the risk assessment.
