Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

The data requirement is waived due to the classification of the substance as corrosive (R35) and the severity of the skin reactions seen in the acute dermal toxicity study and the dermal irritation study. Dermal exposure to phosphorus trichloride will be dominated by local irritation and skin sensitisation is considered to be unlikely.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
There is no information on skin sensitisation.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

No information is available. Inhalation exposure to phosphorus trichloride will be dominated by local irritation and skin sensitisation is considered to be unlikely. Case reports of occupational asthma are available are published, but it is unclear whether these have an immunological basis or simply represent an irritant effect.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
No information is available.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification is proposed in the absence of any experimental studies or relevant findings from human exposure.
