Description of key information

Tantalum is chemically inert and thus not prone to hydrolysis at environmentally relevant pH values (4, 7, and 9). As it is inorganic, the substance cannot be biologically degraded.

In addition, tantalum is highly insoluble in water and not bioavailable to aquatic species. Bioaccumulation in aquatic species is not expected. Adsorption of dissolved Ta in soil/sediment pore water to soil/sediment particles is negligible.
