Additional information

In a guideline (OECD 203) GLP study modified to marine conditions, the 96 -hour LC50 of a commercial substance that meets the description "Poly(oxy-1,2,-ethanediyl), α-butyl, ω-hydroxyl" to Turbot was determined to be >1800 mg/L.  Based on the information available, this substance would be not be classified toxic to the environment according to the classification system of the EU.

It should be noted that the ECOSAR predicts a decrease in toxicity with increasing number of ethylene oxide units. The QSAR predicts that 2-(2-(2-(2-butoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol will have an LC50 twice as high as 2-(2-(2-butoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethanol.
